SUBJECT: Annual Donation Request –
As a result of the generous
donations made by RBSA members last year to the Association’s Foundation, the
Rehoboth Bay Foundation (RBF), the Club was able to conduct a truly outstanding
sailing and water safety program for 50 children of Delaware Army and Air Force
National Guard members. Many of these
children had a parent who was currently deployed or was or had been
deployed. This past summer’s program was
the largest – and most expensive – activity that the Foundation has
sponsored. In addition to financial
contributions, many RBSA members volunteered to help
conduct the program and all will testify to its success.
RBSA would like to offer this
program again this coming summer and the Foundation needs your support in order
to be able to do this plus continue its support of other important
programs. The Foundation’s mission is to
promote water safety, preserve natural resources, and sponsor education
programs for sailing, tennis and marine related activities for children who
would not otherwise have access.
In addition to the program
conducted for the children of National Guard Members, other activities and
programs supported by the Foundation this past year include the local Sea
Scouts Ship 198, Coast Guard Station Indian River’s moral fund, the Center for
Inland Bays’ James Farm, CG Auxiliary Flotilla 12-09, Delaware River & Bay
Lighthouse Foundation, and Sussex Family YMCA’s program for swimming/water
safety lessons for disadvantaged youth.
