REHOBOTH BAY FOUNDATION (RBF)
Mission, Programs, and How to Contribute
The Rehoboth Bay Foundation (RBF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable
organization founded by and based at the Rehoboth Bay Sailing
Association
(RBSA).
The Foundation, now in its fifteenth year of operation , is
governed by a 6 person elected Board of Directors.
The Foundation's purposes include:
- water safety,
- the advancement of water conservation,
- wetlands preservation,
- development of athletic programs including sailing school and tennis clinics,
- sponsoring related education activities for the underprivileged, and
- other related activities for the preservation of natural resources.
The Foundation identifies and contributes financially to projects that reflect positively on RBSA and furthered the Foundation's mission. Examples of projects and activities that have been supported by Foundation grants include:
- the RBSA deserving students sailing program, a program that provides sailing lessons for children who have been recommended primarily by the local school systems who are from financially disadvantaged families,
- the Special Olympics Day on the Bay program that has been conducted by RBSA's Hobbie Fleet,
- the US Coast Guard Morale Fund for use by CG Station Indian River for activities and events for which federally appropriated monies can not be used,
- the local
Sea Scouts -- Ship 198
-- for support of its boating education programs and activities,
- the environmental education programs at the
Center for the Inland Bays
/ James Farm,
- support for swimming instruction for financially disadvantaged children at the
Sussex YMCA,
- the
Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation
,
- the Delmarva Low Impact Tourism Experiences (
DLITE
), a nonprofit organization that fosters outdoor exploration for biking, hiking, birding, canoeing or sailing.

in order to not only provide more information about their mission, programs and activities, but also to help RBSA members avail themselves of such programs and activities.)
Rehoboth Bay Foundation's endeavors are funded by financial contributions and by the donation of boats and trailers that the Foundation either uses for its programs or sells to support its programs. It is primarily RBSA volunteers who plan and run the events held at the Club and the Foundation's Board especially welcomes member's suggestions of new projects and programs
In order to continue the Foundation's work, please help by making a tax-deductible donation to the RBF and/or by donating a boat or trailer that you may have but no longer use. You may also chose to give through the United Way of Delaware -the write-in number is 9345.
