The pictures provided here came from Walker Lamond, the grandson of John C Walker III. Mr. Walker's daughter Betsy Lamond provided the following information:
These pictures were taken in the summer of 1969. Dad (John C Walker III) was one of the founding members of RBSA with some Dover and Wilmington folks--the Hastings, Derrickson's, Zimmerman's, McCartney's, Judge Smith and others. He was Commodore one year, and he and Mom started the teen dances and moonlight sails. He also started the then tradition of the Whale Race on Labor Day where every boat had to have 200+lbs in crew; this was to even up the chances of winning for him.

Actually, most of these photos are from 1965, and a number are from 1964 or 1963. Some of the current members may not be aware, but the club originally was located about 500 yards to the north. It was not moved to its current location until 1965. The original managers \ owners of the club, Bill, Budge and Skip actually lived in the tents seen in a couple of the photos from 1964. In the 10th photo you can actually see all three plus the character Herb Kaplan (Bill and Herb actually initiated the Labor Day Race but it was an "adult" version with drinks at each mark - they raced to the point where neither could stand up). For photo identification, left to right, it is Skip, Bill, Herb and Budge. I'm actually the little kid in the red and white shirt between Skip and Bill. Also in that photo, the couple on the far left looks to be Joe and Ellie Haigh, Joe was commodore in the late 60's
Bill, Budge and Skip were actually the "founders" of the club, it was only after they finished school and moved on in life that they gave up the rights to what they had started and the current form of the "Association" was established. That is why they were \ are the only "Lifetime Honorary Members", with full and equal rights to any and all privileges of the club.
