2007 McConnell Cup Results with Report from Nancy Jaywork, Fleet Captain
We had one race before lunch in light westerly air. I led the whole fleet to the wrong jibe mark; except Dave Racine, who ended up winning the race.
Then there were 2 more races after lunch, with light to medium wind from a shifty northeast to southeast direction.
The three races were all once around the triangle, with an extra windward leg, with all marks to port; except for one of the finishes (to starboard).
RBSA Staff did a great job setting up the courses, and running the races.
There were a total of 10 boats, seven club members, or recent additions to our racing fleet, two from Annapolis, and one from Harrisburg. Everyone did a GREAT JOB and finished EVERY race! Several of our new additions to our fleet are novices to racing, and some are fairly new to sailing.
After the races, we all enjoyed 'beverages' on the deck, and gave out the awards. Everyone got a funny/silly award, like a sponge to bail out a leaking boat, or a compass to find the right mark. (Who could that be?) Several of us sunfish sailors stayed for the July 4th dinner at the club.
Fun was had by all!
